BROOKSHIRE -- (May 15, 2008) – Houston Executive Airport will host its 2nd annual Barbecue Fly-In Saturday, June 7. Area pilots, business travelers and aviation enthusiasts are invited to the event scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Houston Executive Airport, 1900 Cardiff Road in Brookshire, Texas just west of Houston.

Guests will have the opportunity to tour Houston’s newest airport, and view a variety of aircraft, including vintage planes from the Lone Star Flight Museum. A barbecue lunch will be served with donations being accepted to benefit the Henriksen Foundation.

Established in 1998 by airport owner and developer Ron Henriksen, the Henriksen Foundation promotes a healthy start for newborns and mothers by providing complimentary copies of Caring for Your Baby and Young Child (Birth to Age 6), published by the American Academy of Pediatrics. To date, the Henriksen Foundation has donated nearly 70,000 books in both English and Spanish to mothers at Ben Taub Hospital.

Visitors can also experience the thrill of a lifetime with a flight on an historic aircraft. The Lone Star Flight Museum will offer flight experiences June 6 through June 8, in three World War II aircraft including the museum’s B-17 Flying Fortress, B-25 Mitchell and PT-17 Stearman. Each flight experience lasts about 35 minutes of which 20-25 minutes will be in the air. Per person prices are $425 for the B-17, $375 for the B-25 and $225 for the Stearman. Passengers must be 18 or over and some restrictions apply. Uniquely positioned along Houston’s rapidly growing energy corridor, Houston Executive Airport opened in January 2007 and was specifically designed for corporations and individuals who use private aircraft for business travel. The airport’s convenient location and access to air, onsite rail and interstate transportation make it an ideal choice for business travelers to Houston said Airport Executive Director, Andrew D. Perry, A.A.E.

“We thoughtfully designed this airport with amenities that will benefit business travelers to Houston and provide an alternative to the growing congestion at other Houston airports,” said Perry. “It’s a first-class business aviation facility, and we are looking forward to having visitors join us June 7 to see it first-hand.”
